Gravel Route
Epic Kempen border bash gravel loop from Centerparcs Kempervennen to Postel abbey
Route Description
Centerparcs is known for their holiday sites within a natural habitat all over the Netherlands. I explored this gravel route when I was at the “Kempervennen” Centerparcs site in the Kempen area on the Dutch side of the border. It’s a beautiful area South of the city of Eindhoven. This route starts at the park, near Valkenswaard. The route goes East to West and then loops back again, crossing the Dutch/Belgian border multiple times.
From start to finish the route goes in and out of small patches of nature and you will ride forest tracks, some sand and nice patches of gravel. The halfway point is near the abbey of Postel, where you can also stop for a drink and a bite. With over 50% of unpaved tracks, this route is a real gem in the route library. The area is beautiful with multiple national parks and the roads leading you there and passing through add to the experience.
I found this route on Komoot and tweaked it to my liking and start location, but unfortunately I have no account to credit for the base route I used.
- Tip: When I rode this it was a windy day after a lot of rain, but all in all I think the route held really well.
- Tip: I had limited time and did the route in one go. But there is a really nice stop available near the Postel abbey.
- Tip: Some single tracks have some unexpected corners and drops, so pay attention and keep your eyes open.
