Gravel Route

Breda southern borders gravel loop

Route Description

Great gravel route south of Breda. Crossing the Dutch-Belgian border a couple of times around Meerle and Meersel-Dreef. Over the years I made many variations on this route in the area, but I particularly like the loop around Alphen through the forest here. It’s a beautiful area and when you really feel like it you can also add the MTB route of Alphen to the route, which you can comfortably ride on your gravel bike too.

The route starts from Kamu bikes & coffee and heads south through the forest (Mastbos). After a beautiful unpaved starter through the forest you ride east. My favorite gravel patch in the area (Elsakker) is included and after you finish this, the route takes you further east to Alphen before turning back home to Breda through the forest at Chaam (Chaamse bossen).

  • Tip: The route starts and ends at Kamu bikes & coffee, which is a great cycling inspired place to fill-up or rest-up.
  • Tip: The forest around Chaam can be very wet in autumn/winter but there’s always a paved cycleway that you can take back to Breda here.
  • Tip: If you feel like it, the MTB trails around Alphen can easily be included before you pick up this route back to Breda again.
